Wills and Probate

Making a Will is important at any age, whether you have just purchased your first property, have just become a parent, are about to marry or contemplating divorce, are considering retiring from your business or simply want to ensure that your chosen charities will benefit from some or all of your estate after your death.

Although our charges are competitive, we do not offer “cut-price” Wills because we believe that it is important to take time to understand your needs and the requirements of your family. We will prepare a Will tailored to your individual requirements, with reference to the relevant legislation, and raise points that you might not otherwise have considered.

Increasingly, we are asked to advise clients on the best way to provide for a child or other relative with a learning difficulty or other long-term disability. In some circumstances, if our client has a learning difficulty, we are able to offer a service adapted to their needs.

Whether you are a husband and wife wanting straightforward wills or dealing with the issues arising from second marriages, a single parent with guardianship concerns or an individual requiring complex inheritance tax advice, our aim is that at the end of the process, you will understand and feel confident about the provisions that you have put in place.

We are happy to advise and assist in connection with the administration of estates of all sizes and complexity. We will deal with the matter professionally and sensitively and although we find that it is generally more efficient for us to deal with the matter from beginning to end for you, we are happy to support you in your role as personal representative if you would prefer to take a more active part.

If appropriate, we can advise on the opportunities for post-death tax planning through the use of Deeds of Variation.

In conjunction with our Litigation Department we can advise you if you are a beneficiary of an estate and you are unhappy about the way it is being administered or if you feel inadequate provision has been made for you by another person's will or intestacy.
