Sheila qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in 1981 and in England in 1986. She has practiced as a solicitor in the area for 30 years specialising throughout in the area of family law and specifically finance but also arrangements for children including those with an international element. She advises on pre-nuptial and post nuptial agreements and has a reputation as being a tough but fair solicitor.
Sheila is a member of Resolution and subscribes to their Code of Practice which encourages the non-confrontational approach in family cases where possible. Sheila’s experience and friendly but clear manner enables her to provide guidance to clients on a practical level as well as in the complexities of the law.
Sheila heads up the Mediation Department at Brain Chase Coles having trained as a family mediator in 1996. She is able to offer Legal Aid, subject to eligibility, to mediation clients, has been accredited by the Law Society as a family mediator, awarded senior mediator status with the Family Mediators Association and is also fully accredited under the Family Mediation Council. She is a professional practice consultant to a number of mediators providing them with support and mentoring through their training and practice.
