Administration of Estates
We understand the grief and stress of losing a loved one. There is often so much to do that the size of the ‘to do’ list for an executor or administrator can seem overwhelming.
We can advise and assist in connection with the administration of estates of all sizes and complexity, whether there was a Will in place or the deceased died without a Will (intestate). We will deal with the matter professionally and sensitively and although we find that it is generally more efficient for us to deal with the matter from beginning to end for you, we are happy to support you in your role as personal representative if you would prefer to take a more active part. We will advise and assist you with the payment of tax during the administration of an estate. For more information about the different taxes that might be payable, click here.
If appropriate, we can advise on the opportunities for post-death tax planning through the use of Deeds of Variation.
We can advise on trusts contained in Wills. In some circumstances, it may be appropriate to bring these to an end soon after death, in which case we will ensure all legal formalities are complied with as part of the process of helping you to administer the estate.
