February 2018

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) has announced that if you applied to register a power attorney from 1 April 2013 to 31 March 2017 you can claim part of the application fee back.

Brain Chase Coles made many applications on behalf of clients to register powers of attorney over this period. We are unable to claim the refund on behalf of our clients as any claim must be made by the donor or the attorney. The refund will be paid to the donor.

How much you will be refunded depends on the date of the original application.  You will also get 0.5% interest.

Should you wish to make a claim, you can do so here:

Alternatively, you can make a claim here by telephoning the Refunds Helpline on:

0300 456 0300 (choose option 6)

You will need to have the donor’s bank details ready.
