The Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme = peace of mind for our clients.

August 2013

The Law Society, the professional body for Solicitors in England and Wales, has announced plans to introduce a quality accreditation scheme for will drafting and estate administration. We are pleased to report that we have already registered our interest in the Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme, which will open for applications from 31 October 2013.

Brain Chase Coles was one of the first accredited firms in Basingstoke when the Conveyancing Quality Scheme was introduced and we are aiming for the same again with this new scheme.

The Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme is designed for firms, like Brain Chase Coles, that specialise in will-drafting and estate administration. It has been introduced to counter concerns about the risk which the general public faces when using unregulated will writing services (please refer to our earlier article “MAKING A WILL? SOLICITORS VERSUS WILL WRITERS!” for more on this subject).

The Law Society states that a key feature of the scheme will be a protocol to set standards and reassure customers. It will provide practical guidance and recommend best practice. As a firm that is committed to quality and excellence, we welcome this initiative and will keep you updated as and when we gain accreditation.
